PRUExtra Care Series is Prudential’s new suite of ISP riders launched from 1 April 2026, replacing the old PRUExtra CoPay riders. Comprising three riders, PRUExtra Premier Care, PRUExtra Preferred Care and PRUExtra Plus Care, the new series complies with MOH’s new rider requirements and introduces meaningful new benefits including a critical illness benefit and retrenchment premium waiver — while being at least 30% more affordable than the old riders.

PRUExtra Care Series Product Details

  • Supplementary rider series for Prudential PRUShield Integrated Shield Plan
  • New from 1 April 2026, replaces old PRUExtra CoPay riders, complies with MOH’s new ISP rider requirements
  • Three riders available, PRUExtra Premier Care (private hospitals), PRUExtra Preferred Care (PRUPanel Connect preferred list), PRUExtra Plus Care (restructured hospitals up to Class A)
  • Co-Insurance Coverage, 5% co-payment of eligible hospitalisation bills
  • Stop-Loss Benefit, $6,000 per policy year (excludes minimum IP deductible), applicable for Panel Providers, Extended Panel specialists and emergency treatment at A&E
  • Minimum IP Deductible, $3,500 and below is not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Where PRUShield’s deductible exceeds $3,500, 95% of the amount above $3,500 is covered
  • New: Critical Illness Benefit, additional policy year limit of up to $100,000 if hospitalisation is due to early, intermediate or late-stage critical illness
  • New: Retrenchment Premium Waiver, 12-month premium waiver for PRUExtra Premier Care and PRUExtra Preferred Care customers who remain unemployed for 6 consecutive months
  • New: PRUWell Reward, 20% discount on standard level premium for PRUExtra Premier Care customers issued with no special terms, and at next renewal if no claims are made

  • New: Complimentary Health Screening, one-time offer at Raffles Medical Group clinics for new PRUExtra Preferred Care customers
  • Premium Savings, at least 30% more affordable than old PRUExtra CoPay riders across all age groups. PRUExtra Preferred Care is at least 45% more affordable, with some age groups seeing up to 55% difference
  • Cash outlay only, rider premiums cannot be paid by MediSave

PRUExtra Care Series May Not Be Suitable If You Are Looking For

PRUExtra Care Series may potentially be a bad fit if the following matters to you:

  • Near-zero out-of-pocket hospitalisation costs, the minimum IP deductible of $1,500 to $3,500 must still be paid out of pocket
  • Those who do not hold a PRUShield plan, this rider series is only available for PRUShield policyholders
  • Those who primarily use restructured hospitals at Class B2/C wards, MediShield Life alone may be sufficient
  • Paying rider premiums using MediSave, rider premiums are cash outlay only
