Renowned emerging market guru Mark Mobius to retire

Dr Mark Mobius announced his plans to retire from the company effective January 31, 2023. 

As the executive chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group, Mark Mobius, Ph.D., has spent more than the last 40 years working in global emerging markets. Dr Mark Mobius joined Franklin Templeton in 1987 as president of the Templeton Emerging Markets Fund, Inc, and has announced his plans to retire from the company effective January 31, 2023.

Widely regarded by many in the financial industry as one of the most successful emerging markets fund manager over the last 20 years, Mobius oversaw Templeton’s emerging markets team from 1987 to 2023. Templeton Emerging Markets Group has approximately 50 experienced investment professionals in 20 offices and over $28 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2023.
