From 1 April 2026, Income Insurance launched two new riders to replace the old Deluxe Care and Classic Care riders:

- Welcome discount: 15% off first-year premiums for new applications between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027
Essential Care Rider (New from April 2026)
- Replaces the old Classic Care rider
- For Enhanced Advantage and Enhanced Basic policyholders
- Approximately 32% cheaper in premiums on average
- Deductible ($1,500–$3,500) must be paid out of pocket
- Co-payment capped at $6,000 per year
- Welcome discount: 15% off first-year premiums for new applications between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027
What happened to the old Deluxe Care and Classic Care riders? Income Insurance withdrew 6 riders from new sales from 1 April 2026 — Deluxe Care Rider, Classic Care Rider, Plus Rider, Assist Rider, Daily Cash Rider and Child Illness Rider.
If you purchased the Deluxe Care or Classic Care rider between 27 November 2025 and 31 March 2026, you will transition to the new compliant rider upon your next policy renewal from 1 April 2028.
If you purchased the Deluxe Care, Plus, Classic Care or Assist rider before 27 November 2025, there is no immediate impact — your existing rider continues under current terms.

- Cash value or surrender value — Integrated Shield Plans have no cash value
- Near-zero out-of-pocket hospitalisation costs — the new Optima Care and Essential Care riders require you to pay the deductible ($1,500–$3,500) out of pocket
- Those who primarily use restructured hospitals (Class B2/C wards) — MediShield Life alone may be sufficient
