Raffles Health Insurance Shield A Product Details
- Non-participating policy – Integrated Shield Plan
- Covers as charged for public hospital Class A wards and below
- 70% proration if stay at Raffles Hospital
- Premium waiver for child if the unexpected occurs with the parent (until child is 21 years old)
- As charged coverage for pre-hospitalisation treatments (up to 180 days)
- As charged coverage for post-hospitalisation treatments (up to 365 days)
- As charged coverage for most outpatient and inpatient treatment
- Yearly policy limit of S$600,000 in coverage
- Enhanced Pregnancy Complications Benefit from April 2026, expanded coverage to include serious pregnancy and delivery complications as listed on the MOH website

Pre- and Post-Hospitalisation Treatments

Raffles Shield Rider Options (Updated April 2026)
Raffles Health Insurance offers three riders to complement Raffles Shield:
Raffles Choice Rider (New from April 2026) The new Raffles Choice Rider replaces the old Raffles Key Rider from 1 April 2026, complying with MOH’s new ISP rider requirements:
- Co-payment is capped at $6,000 per policy year for treatment by panel/extended panel specialists or Government Restructured Hospitals (GRH)
- No cap on co-payment for non-panel or non-GRH specialists and cancer treatments not on the Cancer Drug List
- Approximately 50% cheaper in premiums compared to old Raffles Key Rider
- Deductible ($1,500–$3,500) must be paid out of pocket — not covered by this rider
- No additional underwriting required when transitioning from old Raffles Key Rider
Raffles Premier Rider
- Premium rates remain unchanged from April 2026
- Covers accommodation expenses for an immediate family member
- Post-hospitalisation Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments
- Post-hospitalisation home care
- Emergency outpatient treatments due to accident
- Ambulance services
Raffles Cancer Guard Rider
- Premium rates remain unchanged from April 2026
- Additional cancer coverage beyond the standard Cancer Drug List
What happened to the old Raffles Key Rider? The Raffles Key Rider is no longer available for purchase from 1 April 2026. If you purchased the Raffles Key Rider between 27 November 2025 and 31 March 2026, you will be transitioned to the new Raffles Choice Rider upon your next policy renewal from 1 April 2028. If you purchased the Raffles Key Rider before 27 November 2025, there is no immediate impact — your existing rider continues under current terms.

Raffles Shield A May Not Be Suitable If You Are Looking For
Raffles Health Insurance Shield A may potentially be a bad fit if the following matters to you:
- Access to private hospitals — Raffles Shield A covers Class A wards in public hospitals only
- Near-zero out-of-pocket hospitalisation costs — the new Raffles Choice Rider requires you to pay the deductible ($1,500–$3,500) out of pocket
- Cash value or surrender value — Integrated Shield Plans have no cash value
- Planned overseas medical treatment — this is not covered under Raffles Shield A
